Cruickshank, age 68, passed away on Monday March 30, 2020 in her home in Essex Junction, Vermont. She was born on December 6, 1951 to Lena E (Breiner) Duchaine and Leo A Duchaine in Burlington, Vermont. Harriet worked for many years at Ben Franklin as a store clerk. She also spent time volunteering to teach Catechism classes at St Josephs Parish as well as aiding in the preschool and after school programs at St Francis Xavier; combining her faith in god and passion for helping people. Harriet could see the good in everyone and everything and had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed. She always said that her favorite job of all was being a mother and grandmother. She supported her children and grandchildren in everything they did and could be found on the sidelines of all their events cheering them on. Harriet enjoyed going on adventures with her best friend and husband, George. Whether it was a big trip to Washington DC, Vegas, Graceland, or gambling at the casinos; or even just a short drive to go deer sighting, it didn’t matter as long as she was with him. George and Harriet’s love set an example for their children and grandchildren of the kind of love and respect they all deserved. It was truly a love to admire and aspire for. Harriet is survived by her husband George D Cruickshank who she married on September 19, 1970. Her children; Amy J Cruichshank, Leo D Cruickshank, and Lena E Cruickshank. Her grandchildren; Alexis (Lexi) R Cruickshank, Leo (LJ) D Cruickshank Jr, Helen E Parent, and Raema M Pebley and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Harriet was loved deeply and will be forever missed. Of one thing we are sure, Harriet Cruickshank is with god. Due to the current national health crisis and social distancing orders; a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Harriet’s memory may be made to Essex Rescue, 1 Educational Drive, Essex Junction, VT 05452.","A.W.
