Description
BURLINGTON — Edna May (Wrisley) (Tucker) Ball passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home. Sadly she died from the COVID-19 virus.
Edna was born April 15, 1929, at home in Ferrisburgh. She was the daughter of Maud Wrisley (Porcheron) and Philip Dawson. She was raised by her grandparents Charles and Nellie Wrisley, and grew up on Little Chicago Road, Ferrisburgh. She attended schools in Ferrisburgh and graduated from Rockpoint girl’s finishing school in Burlington.
She and her first husband, Foster Tucker Sr., raised 8 children in the community of Old Hollow Road in North Ferrisburgh. She worked for many years as an inspector at Simmonds Precision followed by starting her own cleaning business, working until the age of 73 years.
She was a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother with a gentle heart. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and deer hunting, but was most happy when spending time with her large and growing family. She always looked forward to the long weekends spent at the ocean with her three daughters.
She is survived by her husband Winston Ball and her children: Gloria-lee and (Richard) Phelan, Foster Tucker, Stephen and (Dianne) Tucker, Greg Tucker, Suzanne and (Michael) Bushey, and Kimberly and (Timothy) Curtis; 23 grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Charlie and Raymond Porcheron Jr., and Joan and Nellie Humiston.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Foster Tucker, Sr., and her sons Michael and Scott Tucker. A private Catholic graveside service was held on April 28 in North Ferrisburgh. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
