Jane Lane, formerly of Dracut, MA and Nashua, NH, died December 12 at St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, St. Albans, VT.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, James F. (Bob) Lane.
Born in Lowell, the daughter of the late Edward F. Dockett and the late Margaret (Castles) Dockett, Jane attended Dracut public schools, graduating in 1957. She then earned a bachelor's degree in biology at Emmanuel College and a master's degree in education at Salem State. Jane was employed by Dracut public schools, serving as a biology teacher and later as a special education evaluator.
Jane's adventurous spirit repeatedly took her to hiking trails and ski areas in Colorado, California, Wyoming, Alaska, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Chile. Upon retiring, Jane and her husband moved to Jackson, NH, where they further indulged their lifelong passion for skiing, hiking, biking, and canoeing. After the death of her husband, Jane moved to So. Burlington, VT to be close to family in 2019.
Jane is survived by her sister Dorothy Stumpf (Bernard) of Westerly, RI, her sister Virginia Johnson (Alexander) of Plymouth, MA, her brother-in-law Walter Bacigalupo and his wife Norma McGowan of Pelham, NH, several cousins, and 13 nieces and nephews. Jane was the identical twin of the late Margaret Copley of Dracut and the sister of the late Mary Bacigalupo of Lowell.
Burial at the Lane family plot will be followed by a service to be held next summer at Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.
