Title

Roger A. Vachereau, 79, Burlington

Description

Roger A. Vachereau, 79, passed away in Burlington on Dec. 2, 2020 with his children by his side and Sally in his heart.

He was born in Burlington on March 2, 1941 the son of Arthur and Blanche (Begin) Vachereau. Roger grew up in Lakeside and attended schools in Burlington, graduating from Rice Memorial High School in 1959 where he was a standout athlete, playing in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl also in 1959. He met the love of his life, Sally Pratt, in high school and they were married on September 30, 1961 at St. Joseph's Church in Burlington. Roger worked at IBM for many years and after retirement he worked at St. Joseph's School, fondly known as "Mr. V.", where he formed many lasting friendships. Roger spent countless years coaching BAHA and North End Little League baseball where many knew him as "Coach". In 1987 Roger and Sally bought a camp on the lake in Alburg where they would spend the next 30+ summers with their family and friends; BBQs, boat rides, and sunsets.

Roger and Sally were their children and grandchildren's greatest fans; attending countless recitals, sporting events, graduations, concerts. Roger was the most selfless and kind man to all he met and he loved unconditionally. Roger struggled with Parkinson's Disease for the last 15 years under the amazing, loving and wonderful care of Sally. The two had a love like no other.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally Vachereau (Pratt), his son, Timothy and his fiancé, Tammy Daly; his daughter, Lynn and her partner, Tim Campbell; his grandchildren, Tatum and Koleigh Vachereau and Allie and Curtis Denton. He is also survived by his sister, Rochelle Therrien; sister-in-law, Maureen "Pat" Vachereau; many nephews, a niece, cousins, and numerous friends.

He was predeceased by both of his parents, Arthur and Blanche Vachereau; an infant daughter, Mary; his brother Douglas Vachereau; his sisters, Georgette Vachereau and Monette Ayer; brothers-in-law, Charles Ayer and Alain Therrien; and in-laws, former Burlington Fire Chief Raymond "Bobo" and Alma Pratt.

Thank you to anyone who has loved and supported Roger over the years.
