Pandemic-Inspired Thoughts on Home Schooling
Title
Pandemic-Inspired Thoughts on Home Schooling
Description
Parents new to home schooling express fear that their children will fall behind. Based on my experience and investigations into homeschooling and education in general I wrote this poem in an effort to reassure them they'll be fine.

Pandemic-Inspired Thoughts on Home Schooling
Sadly, looking back, I have to say
even my best teachers wasted my time.
If I were interested in a topic
I could learn in a day
what school would dawdle over
for a week or more.
And it’s not the teacher’s fault.
The “normal” school structure
is poorly conceived
to facilitate learning.
For examples of better ways
see Montessori
see Waldorf
options that could be available
but generally aren’t.
Parents new to home schooling
due to the pandemic
fear their children will fall behind.
In truth, what you hope to keep up with
is pretty slow-paced.
You’ll be fine.
