It’s been ten days since I’ve put on earrings
Today I put on these
squares of Connemara marble from Ireland
dusty green with tree bark brown
veins, wrapped in pewter
tied in Celtic knots
An amulet
from my grandmother
an amulet
from all my grandparents
who lived through
the 1918 flu pandemic.
